Fall 2021 Season Status

Aloha Region 188 Soccer Families,

Our Fall 2021 Season Registration remains open for some age divisions.  We've have begun closing divisions in preparation for the season start.  We have already grown the AYSO Program back to pre-pandemic levels.  Now that we have players registered, we will need the requisite number of volunteers to support.  Please give every consideration to volunteering to support our players! See below for the status of individual age divisions.

Please see below for program details.  Thanks for your support!

4U Program Fall 2021

4U Program Status:  The 4U Program will begin on Wednesday, 15 SEP and run weekly on Wednesdays from 5:00-5:45.  Details follow.  Please review the Region 188 COVID Protocols.

Email Sent 13 SEP:
Aloha Region 188 4U Soccer Families,

Apologies for the slight delay in the start of the season.  The first session for the 4U program will be this Wednesday from 5:00-5:45 PM on our Vicker’s Avenue Field adjacent to the playground.  The attached diagram shows the field location adjacent to the playground located between Worthington Blvd and Vickers Ave at the intersection of 1stt Street.   (Map attached).

We have divided our players into four groups.  All of the groups will meet on Wednesdays from 5:00-5:45 for eight weeks.  Each player has been assigned to a group.  We have two volunteer coaches assigned to each group.  You can look up in the registration system which group your child has been assigned.  In addition your child’s coach will reach out as well.  The attached field diagram identifies the location where your child’s group will be playing.

Players should come dressed ready to play.  Each player will receive a program T-Shirt during the first session.  Each player should bring a water bottle.  No other equipment is necessary.

Recall our 4U program is a fundamental motor skill development program with a soccer theme. We will be developing skills and conducting activities that these players will need as a baseline for participation in many physical activities.  We will be conducting this fundamental motor skill development with a soccer theme.  For expectation management, there will be no soccer “matches” or “scrimmages” with this program.

The Region’s COVID protocols are posted on our website under the Parent Tab and Fall 2021 Season Status tab.  We have established boundaries around our fields that only authorized participants should cross.  Authorized participants include players, coaches, designated team parents, and each player’s “Plus-1”.  Each player will be allowed one parent to assist when called upon by the coach.  In addition, all participants who enter inside the boundary will wear masks at all times.  All participants will be entered on the daily attendance roster.

We have permission to operate based on our established COVID Protocols.  To continue to operate, we must abide by them.  We appreciate your support of these protocols.

We look forward to start of this program on Wednesday, 15 SEP, at 5:00PM.

5U Program Fall 2021

5U Program Status:  Program will begin for all participants (boys and girls) on Friday, 10 SEP.  Details to follow:

Region 188 5U Program Location

6 SEP 2021:

Aloha Region 188 Five-and-Under (5U) Soccer Families,

Please read this entire email.  The anxiously awaited start of our 5U soccer program is upon us.  Our 5-and-Under (5U) will begin on Friday, 10 SEP and continue each Friday evening through 29 OCT.  Our sessions will normally go from 5:00-6:10.  Please come 15-20 minutes for the first session (10 SEP) to facilitate handing out uniforms and soccer balls.

We will be conducting the 5U Program in a jamboree format.  Our entire 5U Program will occur at the same time.  We will have almost 40 players participating.  We will divide this large group into approximately five  smaller groups (socially distanced).  We will have a planned program for each week.  The program will call for some parent participation (one-on-one with your player) each week.  None of it is too difficult (skill or physical exertion).  Please be prepared to jump in when called on.

In order to manage these weekly programs I would like to ask for the help of approximately four (4) parents from the boys’ side and another four (4) parents from the girls’ side to act as assistant coaches.  A few of you have already volunteered.  I would like to have two (2) assistant coaches per group of 8-10 players.  Players will be divided into “teams” for organizational purposes.  These “teams” will stay the same, for the most part, all season.  The “teams” will conduct the activities together each week and scrimmage amongst themselves.

The volunteer assistant coaches will execute the activities that are planned for each week’s program.   The program and activities will be provided, so no preparation is required on your part, other than a review of the activities that are planned.

I would also like to have a team parent from each of the boys’ teams and one from each of the girls’ teams to assist with attendance taking, etc.

We are looking pretty good on the 5U Girls side, but could use a few more volunteers on the 5U Boys side. Please email me ([email protected]) if you would like to volunteer and in what capacity.  I would ask that you also register on-line as a volunteer. Instructions for registering are on the [Volunteer] Tab of our homepage.

Each weekly program will look like this:

5:00-5:10 –Group Warm-up Activity
5:10-5:45 – Individual Group Activities
5:45-5:50 – Water Break
5:50-6:05 – Scrimmage (Starting in week #3)
6:05-6:10 –Wrap-up

The Five “Ws” of Program Information Follows:

Where will the 5U Program be held?

The 5U Program will be held in the area known as “Twin Palms” located in front of the Hickam O’Club in the area bound by Worthington Ave, 1st Street, and Signer Blvd.  Please park in the lot across from the field on the O’club side of Worthington Ave.  See the attached map.

First  Session:  What do I need to bring?

Your player will receive a uniform (jersey, shorts, socks), and a Size 3 soccer ball prior to the first session.  You will need to bring shinguards and a water bottle.

Every other session:  What do I need to bring?

Bring your player in his/her uniform, wearing shinguards, carrying his/her soccer ball and a water bottle.  Cleats are optional, sneakers or tennis shoes are fine.

What are the COVID Protocols?

We will have “sanitization kits” with hand sanitizer and disinfectant spray and paper towels available at the fields.  We recommend as a minimum, players sanitize their hands prior to and upon the completion of the program session.  We will institute required standoff distances from our fields.  We will allow one parent for each player to cross those boundaries when called upon.  Those designated parents will need to be accounted for on our attendance sheets.  The remainder of our COVID protocols are pretty straight forward

We are operating under COVID protocols this season.  The protocols incorporate AYSO, State of Hawaii, City and County of Honolulu and Joint Base restrictions.   Your group leader will review but simply put:

  1. Please not bring a player is that player is not feeling well or is sick.
  2. All participants will sanitize their hands prior to field entry.
  3. Only one adult (parent helper) per player will be allowed in the vicinity of the field if required.
  4. All others must remain off the designated field area.
  5. Attendance will be taken at each activity period by the coach or designated parent volunteer.

  7. Equipment will be sanitized before and after each activity session.
  8. There will be no snacks this season as a precautionary measure.
  9. The current requirement is for all participants to wear masks during our program sessions

The term “participant” applies to players, coaches and parents that are authorized to be on the field.  The field boundaries are shown in the attached map in a yellow dashed line.  The program areas for each group are also labeled.

If you are the parent reading this email and not the parent bringing the player to the program activity, please take the time to have them read this email with respect to the COVID protocols.

I am very much looking forward to the beginning of our 5U Season!  I look forward to meeting you and your players!  See you Friday!
