Welcome to Region 188 of the American Youth Soccer Organization.

Fall 2022 Season Status

Aloha Region 188 Soccer Families,

The start of our Fall 2022 Soccer Season is coming soon!

Our Fall 2022 Season Registration will open soon!   We will stagger the registration closings to coincide with projected division start dates.  We will once again need strong volunteer support to make our Fall Season happen on time.  We take a hit every summer as our seasoned volunteers PCS to new locations.  We will need the requisite number of volunteers to support.  Please give every consideration to volunteering to support our players! See below for the status of individual age divisions.

We are aware of the on-going water issue in base housing and other facilities on base.  We will continue to monitor and make the necessary adjustments to ensure the safe and successful execution of our Winter/Spring programs.  Please see below for program details.  Thanks for your support!

Fall 2021 AYSO Section 7 COVID Protocols  (Please Read!)

Region 188 Addendum to AYSO Section 7 COVID Protocols  (Under Revision)

4U Program Fall 2022

4U Program Status:  The 4U Program will begin on Wednesday, 7 September (tentative) and run weekly on Wednesdays from 5:00-5:45.  Details follow.  Please review the Region 188 COVID Protocols.

The first session for the 4U program will be on Wednesday, 7 SEP (tentative) from 5:00-5:45 PM on our Vicker’s Avenue Field adjacent to the playground.  The attached diagram shows the field location adjacent to the playground located between Worthington Blvd and Vickers Ave at the intersection of 1stt Street.   (Link to Map below).

We will be dividing our players into groups.  All of the groups will meet on Wednesdays from 5:00-5:45 for eight weeks.  Each player has been assigned to a group.  We will have two volunteer coaches assigned to each group.  You can look up in the registration system which group your child has been assigned.  In addition your child’s coach will reach out as well.  The attached field diagram identifies the location where your child’s group will be playing.

Players should come dressed ready to play.  Each player will receive a program T-Shirt during the first session.  Each player should bring a water bottle.  No other equipment is necessary. Recall our 4U program is a fundamental motor skill development program with a soccer theme. We will be developing skills and conducting activities that these players will need as a baseline for participation in many physical activities.    For expectation management, there will be no soccer “matches” or “scrimmages” with this program.

The Region’s COVID protocols are posted on our website under the Parent Tab and Fall 2022 Season Status tab.  Please review.  As part of those protocols, all participants will be entered on the daily attendance roster.

We have permission to operate based on our established COVID Protocols.  To continue to operate, we must abide by them.  We appreciate your support of these protocols.

We look forward to start of this program on Wednesday, 7 SEP (tentative), at 5:00 PM.

5U Program Fall 2022

5U Program Status:  Program will begin for all participants (boys and girls) on Friday, 9 SEP (tentative).  Details follow:

Region 188 5U Program Location

Aloha Region 188 Five-and-Under (5U) Soccer Families,

Our 5-and-Under (5U) will begin on Friday, 9 SEP (tentative) and continue each Friday evening through 28 OCT (tentative).  Our sessions will normally go from 5:00-6:10.  Please come 15-20 minutes for the first session (9 SEP) to facilitate handing out uniforms and soccer balls.

We will be conducting the 5U Program in a jamboree format.  Our entire 5U Program will occur at the same time.  We will divide this large group into smaller groups (socially distanced).  We will have a planned program for each week.  The program will call for some parent participation (one-on-one with your player) each week.  None of it is too difficult (skill or physical exertion).  Please be prepared to jump in when called on.

In order to manage these weekly programs I would like to ask for the help of several parents from the boys’ side and several parents from the girls’ side to act as assistant coaches.  A few of you have already volunteered.  I would like to have two (2) assistant coaches per group of 8-10 players.  Players will be divided into “teams” for organizational purposes.  These “teams” will stay the same, for the most part, all season.  The “teams” will conduct the activities together each week and scrimmage amongst themselves.

The volunteer assistant coaches will execute the activities that are planned for each week’s program.   The program and activities will be provided, so no preparation is required on your part, other than a review of the activities that are planned.

I would also like to have a team parent from each of the boys’ teams and one from each of the girls’ teams to assist with attendance taking, etc.

Please email me ([email protected]) if you would like to volunteer and in what capacity.  I would ask that you also register on-line as a volunteer. Instructions for registering are on the [Volunteer] Tab of our homepage.

Each weekly program will look like this:

5:00-5:10 –Group Warm-up Activity
5:10-5:45 – Individual Group Activities
5:45-5:50 – Water Break
5:50-6:05 – Scrimmage (Starting in week #3)
6:05-6:10 –Wrap-up

The Five “Ws” of Program Information Follows:

Where will the 5U Program be held?

The 5U Program will be held in the area known as “Twin Palms” located in front of the Hickam O’Club in the area bound by Worthington Ave, 1st Street, and Signer Blvd.  Please park in the lot across from the field on the O’club side of Worthington Ave.  See the attached map.

First  Session:  What do I need to bring?

Your player will receive a uniform (jersey, shorts, socks), and a Size 3 soccer ball (if this is your first 5U season) prior to the first session.  You will need to bring shinguards and a water bottle.

Every other session:  What do I need to bring?

Bring your player in his/her uniform, wearing shinguards, carrying his/her soccer ball and a water bottle.  Cleats are optional, sneakers or tennis shoes are fine.

What are the COVID Protocols?

  2. All participants will sanitize their hands prior to field entry.
  3. Only one adult (parent helper) per player will be allowed on the field if required.
  4. All others must remain off the designated field area.
  5. Attendance will be taken at each activity period by the coach or designated parent volunteer.
  6. There will be no snacks this season as a precautionary measure.

If you are the parent reading this email and not the parent bringing the player to the program activity, please take the time to have them read this email with respect to the COVID protocols.

I am very much looking forward to the beginning of our 5U Season!  I look forward to meeting you and your players!

8U Program Fall 2022

Registration numbers will dictate the exact team and practice constructs for the Fall 2022 Program.  The nominal format will consist of one training session per week (5:00-6:00 PM, approximate) and one game session per week (Saturdays).  The game format is small-sided 4v4, with no goalkeepers.  Once registration closes and volunteer coaches are confirmed.  More information will be promulgated.

8U Program activities will be conducted on our 8U Fields behind Mokulele Elementary on Hickam.  A map of the fields can be found at the below link

10U Program Fall 2022

It is desired to conduct the 10U Program on-base for the Fall Season.  We hope to have 4+ 10UB and 4+ 10UG teams.  The training sessions will be held on Hickam on our McChord Street Field (See link below) twice per week during the week.  Games will hopefully all be played on base on the same field.

The 10U format is 7v7 with goalkeepers.  Players will be rostered once volunteer coaches and referees are confirmed.  We expect to start activities in late August.

12U Program Fall 2022

The 12U Program will practice on base and play games on Saturdays off-base.  12U Program is played in a 9v9 format with approximately 12 players on the roster.  Practices are generally twice per week for 75 minutes per session.  Games will be played on Saturdays at locations on Leeward Oahu.   We expect to have 2-3 x 12UB and 2x12UG teams.  We expect to start activities in mid-August.

14U Program Fall 2022

The 14U Program is the first time our players will play in a standard 11v11 format.  The players move up to a Size 5 soccer ball on a full-size field.  Roster size is approximately 15 players.  Training sessions are twice per week for 90 minutes on base.  Games are on Saturdays off-base.  We expect to have one 14UB and one 14UG teams.

14U Practice Location

16/19U Progarm Fall 2022

The 16U and 19U age divisions combine to a 16/19U division due to an overall lack of numbers across the greater AYSO Section 7 program.  The format is 11v11 on a full-size field with a roster size of approximately 18 players.  These are the toughest age divisions to fill for Region 188 as the available pool of players declines along with the other available activities for these ages in the military community.  Even if we don't have enough players to field a team, we have in the past combined with other regions or worked to place our players on other regions' teams.  We expect to begin activities in early-AUG.

Please Note:  We will waitlist this age division until we achieve a "critical mass" of players and will then activate the players from the waitlist and begin registering.
